The Best Time of Year to Schedule Aerial Photography for Your NJ Property

When you shoot a property matters almost as much as how. New Jersey has four very different-looking seasons, and each one changes what your aerial will say about your property. A little planning gets you the right look — and gets you on the schedule before everyone else needs it.

Spring and summer are the workhorses. Long days mean more golden-hour and twilight windows, landscaping is green and full, and the light is generally generous. It’s the most flattering season for most commercial and residential property — which is exactly why it’s also the busiest. Demand for aerial work climbs hard from spring into summer, so the earlier you book, the better your odds of getting the date and the conditions you want.

Fall has a specific kind of magic. For the right property — a campus, an estate, a course, a property with mature trees — autumn color produces genuinely spectacular imagery you can’t get any other time. If your property has landscaping worth showing off, a fall shoot can be the standout.

Winter is underrated for the right job. Bare trees mean maximum visibility — you can see a building’s full footprint, the parking, the access, and the surroundings without summer’s foliage hiding any of it. For industrial and commercial property where the priority is showing the asset clearly rather than prettily, winter is often the most useful season. (And it’s the quietest on the calendar, which means flexibility.)

The light, every season. Regardless of season, the best commercial imagery comes from the edges of the day — golden hour and twilight — and those windows shift dramatically through the year. Part of planning a shoot is matching the time of day to the time of year.

The strategic move: book ahead of your marketing season. If you’ll be listing, leasing, or launching in spring or summer, get the aerial done before the rush — so your assets are ready when you need them and you’re not competing for dates at the busiest time of year.
