Commercial Drone Videography in New Jersey: How a Shoot Comes Together

What commercial drone videography actually involves

A good aerial video looks effortless: one smooth move that reveals a property, a campus or a job site and the place around it. Getting there takes planning, airspace work and an edit built for the way the footage will be used.

Here is how a commercial drone videography project comes together at Sky View Pros, from the first call to the final file, and what to have ready so your New Jersey shoot goes right the first time.

Six steps from first call to final cut

Every project is different, but the path is the same. This is the process we follow on commercial video work across New Jersey, whether the subject is a development site, a school campus or an active construction project.

1. Define the goal

Who will watch it, and where? A leasing video, an investor update and a social clip need different lengths, pacing and shots. We start by agreeing on the audience, the run time and the features the footage has to show.

2. Check the airspace

Much of North Jersey sits in controlled airspace around Newark, Teterboro and Morristown, and parts of South Jersey sit near Philadelphia and Atlantic City. We confirm the airspace for your address and secure FAA authorization before flight day.

3. Plan the shots

We map out the moves before we arrive: reveals, orbits, flyovers and tracking passes, timed to the best light. On larger sites we plan the flight path around buildings, cranes and active work areas.

4. Fly the session

On the day, we work around your operations and the people on site. One session captures the material for the main video, and aerial stills can be taken in the same visit.

5. Edit the story

The footage is cut to music and finished with your logo and on-screen text, so the video tells a clear story from the opening shot to the closing frame.

6. Deliver for every screen

You receive the final video ready for your website, listing pages, presentations and social channels.

Where commercial aerial video earns its keep

Commercial drone videography works anywhere scale and setting matter. Developers use it to sell a site before it’s built, like the Camden riverfront development film at the top of this page. Schools use it to show families their grounds; the video above is one of two campus films we produced for Golda Och Academy in West Orange.

Brokers use aerial video to market commercial real estate, and builders use it to document construction progress for owners and lenders. You can see more of our work in the aerial video portfolio.
